Learning, Sharing, Shopping & FUN Converge at the UVCA’s Spring Convention in Richmond, Virginia
.

 


Afton, VA
– The Unified Virginia Chiropractic Association (Unified VCA or UVCA) met for its Spring Convention on May 3-5 at the Hilton Hotel & Spa at Short Pump in Richmond, Virginia.

52 Doctors of Chiropractic and 56 Chiropractic Assistants registered for the meeting, along with a record-breaking 51 supporting supplier companies. Additional doctors stopped by to visit with exhibitors and/or attend membership functions.  For a slide show featuring the photography of Dr. Nelson Marquina, Laser Biotech International, [click here]. 


The DC, staff and joint doctor/team programs blended practical and inspirational sessions covering the art, science and philosophy of Chiropractic. The range of topics and speakers reflected the diversity of the unified organization as well as important state and national issues. Sessions included:
 

  • “Coding & Documentation, Featuring Anthem Audit Lessons” by Evan Gwilliam, DC, MBA, BS, CPC, CCPC, CPC-I, QCC, MCS-P, CPMA, CMHP, AAPC Fellow
  • “Skyrocket Cash Collections & Patient Retention - With or Without Insurance” by Miles Bodzin, DC & Holly Jensen
  • “Introduction to Applied Kinesiology” by Tom Roselle, DC, PAK, QAc, DCBCN, DCCN
  • “Keynote: “Neo-Vitalism: Understanding the Value of Vitalism in Chiropractic” by Rob Scott, PhD, DC
  • “The Opioids Crisis: Positioning Chiropractic in Its Rightful Role” by Scott Munsterman, DC, FICC, CPCO
  • “How to Talk to Millennials” by Kevin Pallis, DC 
  • “Vaccines & Autism: A Different Perspective” by David Seaman, DC, MS, DABCN
  • “Best Practices for Managing Low Back Pain” by Tim Bertelsman, DC, CCSP, FACO
  • “5 Things You Must Know Regarding Fees” & “The Successful Financial Report of Findings” by Holly Jensen 
  • “Increasing Efficiency for the Busy CA” including “Overall Value of a CA”, “Over-the-Counter Collections”, “Billing,” & “Accounts Receivable Clean-up & Management” by Brandy Brimhall, CPC, CMCO, CCCPC, CMCO, CPMA

Profession updates and general membership meeting sessions featured reports on chiropractic issues and association news impacting attendees.  They addressed:

  • The current “Sneaker Drive” to help those in impoverished countries earn a living.
  • A special opportunity for personal injury training from the Personal Injury Training Institute (expires this month!).
  • The Unified VCA’s new member program from Quartermaster Tax Management Services.
  • An update from the CBD Task Force.
  • Findings from the Anthem audit.
  • The importance of personal referral to UVCA membership growth (Dr. Matthew Schrier won a $50 Amazon Gift Card for his efforts to strengthen the UVCA).
  • Highlights from the concurrent Silent Auction to support chiropractic PR in Virginia.
    The association’s initiative to ensure relevance to the chiropractic offices it serves.
  • And much more.

Unified VCA member services associate Maria del Mar Villa Villar interviewed 25 doctors and 4 suppliers over the course of the convention weekend to learn how the association provides value to their organizations. In addition to helping the association serve members better through new insights, she plans to produce several short videos to educate chiropractic offices about the benefits of being involved.

Nothing can fully replace the impact and camaraderie that these face-to-face events provide.”
